Description Ikaria

Ikaria belongs in the cluster of Eastern islands of the Aegean Sea. It is found westwards Samos. Its first name Dolichi, but the Greek mythology connected it with the first person that accomplished to fly, Icarus, in order to it reminds his fall.
The climate of Ikaria or Nikaria, as the locals call it, is marvellous, while it presents an impressive alternation of landscapes. There are in southern abrupt naked rocks, in the interior peacefulness that it causes revene and in the northerners beautiful seashores.
Here is made also the eminent black wine. Ikaria has an unusual beauty. The beaches of Faros, Evdilos and Armenistis excite the visitors, while the beach in Na charms. There exist the ruins of the famous ancient holy altar dedicated in the Godness Artemis Tavropoulos. Mesakti and Gialiskari they are considered as the most beautiful sandy beaches of the Aegean Sea.
