Description Andros
Andros is the most northern island of Cyclades and second in extent
afterwards Naxos. The all island has mountainous topography and the main harbor
of the island is Gavrio, with regular connection with Rafina, while the harbours
in Batsi, in Chora and in Korthi allocate on infrastructure of private and
piscatorial ships.
In the western side of Andros are found the big leeward,
sandy beaches of the island, easily rapproachable and developed touristically.
Those who seek quietness and wild beauty, they will find them in the beaches of
the north-eastern and south-eastern side. The island has enough rivers, streams,
torrents and a lot of springs. Big part of sides has been shaped from very old
in low stone walls, with the help of dry stones that are said “aimasies”. In the
north-western side of the island the vegetation is bushy and we can see
partridges, falcons or even more infrequent species of birds of prey.
