Description Lassithi
The Prefecture of Lasithi occupies the easternest department of the island of Crete and has capital the picturesque Agios Nikolaos. The morphology of the ground in the all extent of the Prefecture, with the permanently alternating, in intense oppositions, landscape, with its incomparable natural beauties, impresses from the first moment the visitor.
The same oppositions present also its coasts. The climate is soft and sweet, clearly Mediterranean, without abrupt seasonal precessions, is considered one from the healthiest and most pleasant at the all duration of the year. Green revels literally in plains and mountainsides thanks to its immense olive groves and the wildly bushy vegetation.
No other prefecture of Crete, does not present so much peculiarity as long as the Prefecture of Lasithi. A basic factor of this peculiarity is the combination of natural beauties with historical and archaeological interests.
